Eden Locke Hotel is a new stylish aparthotel in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. A calm oasis from the city rush, it feels like home away from home. This is one of the best places to stay in Edinburgh, & is minutes away from Edinburgh’s main attractions.

It stands out for it’s unique & thoughtful design, with soothing soft colours and a minimalist aesthetic. Expect a sophisticated tropical vibe in the lobby, & soft pastels in the suites.

The serviced apartment suites are spacious, & come with a fully equipped kitchen-living area and superfast wifi. Perfect for the modern traveller.

You can relax, work, cook, &  connect with locals and travellers here. Or dive right into a super comfortable bed.

Where is Eden Locke?

Eden Locke is in a listed Victorian building in Edinburgh’s New Town, a UNESCO heritage site.

It is perfectly placed to explore Edinburgh landmarks within minutes: down the road is Prince’s street, the Royal Mile, & the famous Edinburgh castle. And the picturesque Dean Village is only 10-15 minutes away.

The locale is surprisingly not busy given how close it is to all major attractions & museums.

Lot’s of nearby breakfast places, cafes’ and restaurants too. The Edinburgh Waverley train station is 5 minutes away by taxi.

I didn’t have long in Edinburgh, but thanks to the location of Eden Locke I managed to see a few things easily. I love that it’s near Dean Village too. Double brownie points & easily the best place to stay in Edinburgh.

Eden Locke Hotel // Design & Concept

Eric Jafari is the creator of the Locke hotels, & is leading the way with a unique lifestyle hotel concept that focuses on the needs of the modern traveller. The idea of being able to travel anywhere and feel at ease is a welcome one.

Especially in this age of digital nomads, start ups, & wanderlust.

Trendy serviced apartments that are fully equipped are a comfort that many modern travellers are starting to prefer over the traditional sterile hotel environment.

Eden Locke’s interior was meticulously designed by brilliant New York architects Matt Grzwynski & Pons. They also designed Leman Locke– Eden Locke’s sister hotel in London.

Eden Locke retains it’s own personality: the interior is minimalist, sophisticated & subtly tropical.

In short, a very comfortable yet instagrammable hotel that only opened it’s doors in June. There are plans to roll out Locke hotel branches in Dublin & Berlin, each will have their own distinct style.

The lobby at Eden Locke hotel is the perfect hang out zone: harmonious colours of soothing green meets comfy seating. Large windows with light sifting through. Books dotted around.

A very inviting space to socialise or zone out in. It’s still very new, but with time there will be social events for travellers and the locals. A community of like-minded individuals, this should be great for people new to Edinburgh.

There is the Hyde & Son cafe/bar in the lobby, if you fancy some coffee and delicious pastries. The doughnuts are scrumptious. Go for Vanilla. Yum! (Menu here).

Eden Locke Apartment Suites

The serviced apartments are spacious & almost double the size of a boutique hotel room. Chic, thoughtfully designed, & fully equipped to have everything one would need.

The room sizes range from 29 sqm to 33 sqm.

The front door leads into a calm space. A sleek kitchenette and dining area, with marble tops & gold accessories. Did I mention that this place is perfect for Instagram!

There is also a washing machine, dishwasher, and fridge. Dishes, pots & utensils. A great set up if you want to cook something quick and easy.

The appliances are all top notch. Cleaning products under the kitchen sink. They have thought of everything!

Lighting is soft throughout the apartment, lending to the relaxed vibe.

A list of what’s included in the apartments:

Fully equipped kitchen:

Dishwasher, Microwave, Washer dryer, Fridge,Oven with hob and grill.

Living Room:

Signature L shaped sofa, artwork, designer furnishings.

Black out blinds, crisp white linen, Toni & Guy hairdryer, super comfortable king size beds, superior pillows and duvet, iron & ironing board.

Luxury en-suite bathroom, underfloor heating bathroom, super soft white towels, rubber duck.

Superfast WiFi, smart HD TVs, Apple TV boxes.

24 hour reception, apartment telephone, city views, city centre location, weekly housekeeping and linen service, comfort cooling.

Once you have made yourself some tea and maybe a bite, you can kick back for some relaxation. Maybe Netflix? ( I watched a bit of GOTR).

The living area has a bespoke comfy signature L-shaped sofa that is perfect for lounging in. And a massive flatscreen Apple Smart TV. Voila Netflix!

I should add that the Wifi is super fast. No waiting decades for the page to load. Extra brownie points for that.

But if you are feeling rather sleepy, jump right into the King sized bed with fluffy pillows. Very comfortable, I fell asleep within minutes.

Prior to that, I tried the provided Interstellar relaxation Space mask, which is a self-heating eye mask said to help with tiredness & eye strain. Once you put it on, you feel some warmth over your eyes within a few minutes- a result of natural heat exchange between oxygen & the masks Iron particles.

It is the first time I tried it, but felt so relaxing.

Bespoke Kinsey-apothecary toiletries are made especially for Locke hotels & provided in all suites.

Check-in was smooth & straightforward. Staff are all very friendly and were helpful with any queries we had. I felt very welcome and looked after.

In conclusion, I loved my stay at Eden Locke, and can’t wait to go back! It’s perfect for an Edinburgh city break as most of the main attractions are in walking distance & it’s so comfortable. Definitely one of the best places to stay in Edinburgh.

Thanks to Eden Locke for their warm hospitality. All opinions are my own.

Sounds like a great visit! I love how they really thought of EVERYTHING a traveler would need – right down to the rubber duck 🙂 Love that the wifi is super fast – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve traveled and it crawls – or they charge you a fortune for it. A hotel really is about the details. I’m wishing I could curl up in that king size bed right about now!

I love how simple and nordic the decor is. I also love serviced apartments for accommodation because there’s so much space and so much comfortable than a standard hotel room. You’ve made this place look like an instagrammers dream and it sounds SO GOOD!
